WHO DO YOU RELY ON?
“Woe to the obstinate children,” declares the Lord, “to those who carry out plans that are not mine, forming an alliance, but not by my Spirit, heaping sin upon sin; who go down to Egypt without consulting me; who look for help to Pharaoh’s protection, to Egypt’s shade for refuge.” Isaiah 30:1-2 NIV
During a time of political turmoil, Israel obstinately sought the help of men (Egypt) and did not consult God, who had been nothing but faithful to them time and again.
This is not just something specific to Judah. I have seen many first seek to make career moves, relational and financial decisions, before consulting the Lord. And just like Judah, some of these things may seem to succeed at first, but the evidence of God’s hand on a matter is often in its fruit and longevity.
Child of God, you have the most valuable privilege of access to the Master of the universe, who holds all seasons and times in His hands. Trusting in the hand of man over this is the highest form of rebellion and the quickest path to deprivation and mediocrity.
May it never be said of you that you dismissed divine counsel for limited wisdom. Praise the Lord!
Prayer: Father, I thank you for this word. Your word assures me that you generously give wisdom to those who seek for it in the right heart posture. It shall be said of me that I delighted most in every word that flowed from your lips to the glory of your name. Amen!
