ON SPIRITUAL FATHERHOOD (II)
“But now, O Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand.” Isaiah 64:8 NKJV
We cannot truly understand the essence of fatherhood without acknowledging the Father of all fathers, the ultimate model for this role.
In our key scripture, God is referred to as Our Father, echoing the description in Deuteronomy 32:6 where He is called the Father who created you. God’s nurturing, guiding, sacrificial, and disciplining nature establishes the foundation for all fatherhood and sets the standard by which those who take on this responsibility will be judged.
Despite how humanity has portrayed it, spiritual fatherhood is not primarily about children merely showing respect and honor, but about fathers serving with humility and leading by example, living a divine lifestyle that instills their spirit in their children.
Any man who embraces this responsibility understands that the cost of fatherhood far outweighs any glory that might come from it, and thus, can never claim the credit for the task except for divine enablement. [Selah]
Praise the Lord!
Prayer: Father, I thank You for Your wisdom. You are the ultimate Father, and I honor the earthly spiritual fathers You have appointed to guide and nurture us in Your ways. Help us to recognize and submit to their leadership, and to faithfully preserve the seeds of faith they have planted in us, that we may walk in Your truth and bring glory to Your name. Amen!
