THE FAITH OF SONS

“So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham.” Galatians 3:6-7 NIV

Faith is not merely a belief in the existence of God—it is complete trust in His character, His promises, and His Word. It is confidence rooted not in what we see, but in who He is.

When Scripture calls us “children of Abraham,” it is not just a title—it is a call to embody the same radical, obedient trust that marked his life. Abraham’s faith was not passive or convenient. It led him away from familiarity, into the unknown, and up a mountain with his only son, believing that God could raise the dead if necessary.

This is the faith of sons—not transactional, but relational. Not circumstantial, but covenantal. It holds fast when everything else shakes, because it knows the One who holds all things together. Faith like Abraham’s is not a momentary act, but a lifelong posture: walking with God when the destination is unclear, trusting Him when the promise seems delayed, and obeying even when it costs everything. This kind of faith is not self-generated—it is birthed by grace and sustained by intimacy. It grows stronger in surrender, and it becomes righteousness not because of its perfection, but because of the One in whom it rests.

To be a child of Abraham is to live like one who knows that God is faithful—even when the path is steep, or the silence is long. It is to say, “Here I am,” even when we don’t know where “there” is.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for calling us into a faith that rests not in our strength but in Your steadfast love. Help us to walk as true sons and daughters—trusting You in the unseen, obeying You in the unknown, and worshipping You in the waiting. Shape in us the faith of Abraham, that we might be counted among those who believe You fully and follow You faithfully. In Jesus’ name, amen!
