OF FALSE KNOWLEDGE

“O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge— by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith. Grace be with you. Amen.”
I Timothy 6:20-21 NKJV

When Paul talks about false knowledge, he alludes to claims that pretend to be true wisdom but contradict God’s revealed truth in scripture.

In Paul’s time this looked like strange doctrines that mixed the gospel to pagan ideas, denying Christ’s humanity and divinity — later known as gnosticism. This is not confined to Paul’s time, although different in expression.

Today this false knowledge manifests as people identifying with a spirituality without Christ, humanism elevated above scripture, distorting scriptures for personal gain, declaring truth to be different for everyone (relativism) or religious conspiracy theories that stir fear instead of faith.

Child of God, do not be deceived. What has been will be again, and no matter the packaging, truth is unchanging— Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Secondly, the scriptures are the infallible Word of God and we must choose to believe Him above all things.

Prayer: My Father, I thank you for this wisdom. I have esteemed your words more than necessary food because it is a lamp at my feet that guides me in every step. I trust your spirit at work in me to educate me in all things ethical and divine, in your name and for your glory. Amen!
