LIVING IN THE SPIRIT

“The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.”
1 Corinthians 2:15-16 NIV

In Acts 17:28, Scripture tells us that we “live and move and have our being” in Christ. What does this truly mean? It means that because God’s Spirit dwells within us, we can share in the mind, feelings, and perceptions of Christ Himself.

As a child of God, you may experience a spiritual sensitivity that allows you to perceive beyond what is merely physical. The natural ability to think and reason is not absent in those who are worldly, but sinful desires and corrupt beliefs keep them from understanding God’s ways or submitting to His authority. Only the life-giving light of the Holy Spirit can open hearts to the beauty of spiritual truth, bringing full conviction so it can be embraced wholeheartedly.

This is why a “natural man”—one without the Spirit—cannot grasp spiritual realities. The natural man relies solely on human wisdom, refuses to walk by faith, and denies the need for God’s supernatural guidance. In Paul’s time, this described many philosophers and Greek scholars, who dismissed God’s revelation as foolishness or the idle dreams of deluded minds. Without the Spirit, they remain blind to truths that are only spiritually discerned.

Child of God, understand this: when you resolve to live for the audience of One—the Father—you will often be misunderstood, mistreated, and tested. Yet take courage, for He will never leave you nor forsake you. Trust Him, and praise His faithful name!

Prayer: My Father, I thank You for this truth—that I live, move, and have my being in Christ. Thank You for Your Spirit that opens my heart to see and embrace Your ways. Help me to walk faithfully, even when I am misunderstood or tested, and to rely fully on Your guidance and strength. May my life always be lived for Your glory alone. I praise You for Your unfailing presence and love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
