KNOWING GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE
“Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” John 17:3 NIV
Eternal life is not just a promise for the future, it begins now, in knowing God personally through Jesus Christ. Many people think of eternal life as something that only starts after death, but Jesus defines it differently. It is found in a relationship, not merely in a destination.
To “know” God here is more than head knowledge. It is intimacy, fellowship, and walking daily with Him. It is not measured by length of days but by depth of relationship, hence moment we spend in His presence, learning His heart, obeying His voice, and trusting His grace, is a taste of the eternal life Christ gives.
Child of God, this changes how we live. Eternal life does not begin someday, it is already unfolding in us when Christ dwells in our hearts. The peace you feel in prayer, the joy in worship, the comfort of His Word, and the assurance of His love are all glimpses of eternity breaking into your present.
So do not be narrow minded thinking it is all about waiting until heaven; but about knowing God right now. Heaven will be the fullness of what we already experience in part. To know Him is life itself.
Prayer: My Father, I thank You that eternal life is not something I have to wait for but a gift I already taste in knowing You through Jesus Christ. Help me walk more closely with You each day, deepening in intimacy and trust. Let my life reflect the joy and peace that come from knowing the only true God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
