YIELDING TO THE LORDSHIP OF JESUS

“Except the LORD build the house, They labour in vain that build it: Except the LORD keep the city, The watchman waketh but in vain.” Psalm 127:1 KJV

So much of our lives are spent building — careers, families, reputations, ministries, and even dreams for the future. But Scripture reminds us that if the Lord is not the One establishing and sustaining what we build, then all our striving amounts to nothing more than wasted energy.

Human effort, no matter how disciplined or well-intentioned, cannot produce lasting fruit apart from God’s hand. Yielding to the lordship of Jesus means more than asking for His blessing over our plans, it means surrendering the plans themselves. It is the difference between inviting God to walk with us on our path and submitting ourselves to walk on His. When He builds, our work carries eternal weight; when He guards, our lives rest secure in His protection.

Child of God, our theme scripture calls us to humility. We are not the ultimate builders, nor the ultimate protectors of our lives. Jesus is both the Architect and the Watchman. To acknowledge Him as Lord is to rest in the assurance that what He establishes cannot be shaken, and what He guards cannot be taken. Enter then, His rest. Hallelujah!

Prayer: My Father, I thank you for this truth. I am conscious that you are the author and finisher of my destiny. Teach me to yield my plans, my ambitions, and dreams Your lordship. Establish the work of my hands according to Your will as you guard my life under Your faithful care. May my labor not be in vain, but a reflection of Your eternal purposes, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
