NOT STUMBLING OTHERS
“So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way.” Romans 14:12-13 NKJV
We live in a society that is leaning more towards self-centeredness, causing people to either be too judgmental or cause others to stumble without taking note of it.
Yet Scripture reminds us that our lives are not lived in isolation; our actions, attitudes, and words have ripple effects. Every believer is accountable before God not only for personal conduct but also for the way we influence others along their walk. The call is not to police or condemn one another, but to walk in humility, being mindful that the liberty we have in Christ should never become a trap for someone weaker in faith. To stumble a brother or sister is to forget that love governs all things.
Love seeks the good of others, not the assertion of self. True maturity in Christ is seen not in how much freedom we claim, but in how much we willingly lay down for the sake of another’s spiritual well-being. As we remember that one day each of us will give an account before the Lord, may we strive to live in such a way that our example points others to Jesus rather than away from Him.
Prayer: My Father, I thank You for reminding me that my life has influence. Help me to walk in humility, using my freedom not for selfishness but for love. Teach me to guard my words and actions so that they build others up and never lead them astray. May my life be a reflection of Your grace, drawing others closer to You. I give You thanks for entrusting me with this responsibility, and I ask for Your strength to walk worthy of it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
