REFUSE STAGNANCY

“Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this we will do if God permits.” Hebrews 6:1-3 NKJV

Any human in their right mind desires progress— whether financial, social, or most importantly, spiritual.

Yet far too often, we pursue the former at the expense of the latter. The spiritual life becomes the easiest to pause, sacrifice, or altogether neglect when other areas of life demand attention.

But Paul confronts this complacency with great seriousness. To remain stagnant in our walk with Christ is, in a sense, to treat His finished work as insufficient, putting Him back to open shame by refusing to grow into the maturity His sacrifice made possible.

True progress begins in the spirit. When our spiritual life thrives, every other pursuit finds proper balance and purpose (Matthew 6:33). Growth in Christ is not optional; it is the evidence that His life is at work within us.

Let us, therefore, refuse spiritual stagnancy and press forward to perfection, not striving in human effort, but yielding daily to the transforming power of His grace.

Prayer: My Father, I thank You for calling me to grow beyond the basics of faith into deeper maturity in Christ. By your grace I am delivered from the comfort of stagnancy and stirred with a hunger for continual transformation. By Your Spirit I am continually led from strength to strength, from faith to faith, and from glory to glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
