YOUR ADVERSARY’S CLAIM
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”
I Peter 5:8 NKJV
The term adversary is translated from the greek word “antidikos“, which refers to someone with a legal or moral claim against you.
In Luke 12:58, the same word is used to describe the adversary or plaintiff as someone who has a moral claim against you, and you needing to make things right before you are dragged in court and found guilty.
These two scriptures show us that the enemy’s accusations aren’t always wrong, but the blood of Jesus that was poured for us has covered those who have received Him as Lord and savior. Consequently, your vigilance is not so you can do something to earn what has already been provided through Christ, but to walk worthy of your calling, yielding to the spirit to absorb whatever sin strives to cling to you.
Child of God, in sincerity, not everything is an attack from the devil, sometimes it is wise to self examine and see where our moral failures were influenced by our personal decisions. Study the word of God, seek to understand and apply yourself, repent where you found error — for as the wise man of proverbs said of His Word “it is life to those who find it, And health to all their flesh (proverbs 4:22).”
Hallelujah.
Prayer: My Father, I thank you for this word. I thank you that you have deposited a spirit of truth in me that enables me to discern right from wrong. I thank you that by the same spirit you cause me to will and do according to your good pleasure. May it be said of me that my heart was of flesh godward, able to receive and handle correction, to the glory of your name. Amen!
