IT MUST BE DONE IN FAITH

“But whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.” Romans 14:23 NIV

Many times, we believers consider faith as something to apply only when there are big things we are trusting God for.

For example, someone with financial challenges may say they have faith something is about to change. Another might have family conflicts and say they have faith for reconciliation. Someone else may say they have faith that they will purchase a piece of land before the year ends.

While all these are good things to trust God for, Paul invites us to a higher vantage point of the significance of faith. As defined in Hebrews: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1).

From this understanding, we realize that everything a believer does must be done in faith—otherwise, it is sin. Whether you are making big purchases, big career moves, or major decisions, it is just as demanding of faith as someone making a simple meal at home and, with proper diligence, believing it will nourish their family and not harm them.

One must have faith that when they lie down to sleep, God, who is Lord over their body, will refresh them, even if the hours of sleep they manage to get are below average. We do not know how much dead skin is shed in a day or what quantity of oxygen we need to function with the normalcy we enjoy, but God knows.

By faith, we believe tomorrow will come, and that we will be a part of it, and that the entire course of events from that point is in His hands and for our good. Child of God, never become familiar with, or lose the wonder of, the power of your faith. It is the lifeline of those who trust. Praise God.

Prayer: My Father, I thank You for this wisdom. By faith I see, I think, I envision, I plan, and I confess. In all things, I glorify You with thanksgiving and with faith that my end is good and of God. Help me never to set rules for myself that restrain Your Spirit from moving freely in my life, for where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. In Jesus’ mighty name, amen.
