TO REVEAL HIS SON IN US
“But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by his grace, was pleased to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles, my immediate response was not to consult any human being.” Galatians 1:15-16 NIV
Paul’s declaration of God setting him apart to reveal His Son in him was as true then as it is now. But what does it really mean for Christ to be revealed in us?
It is when no offense, or offender, can exhaust the depths of His love. And as hosts of the Spirit, the same has to be evident in us as it was in Christ, and in Paul.
To reveal Christ is more than speaking about Him; it is becoming living evidence of Him. It is when His patience governs our reactions, His mercy shapes our judgments, and His humility reframes our sense of self. Christ revealed in us is not loud in proclamation but undeniable in posture.
Paul did not say God revealed His Son to him, but in him. This is the miracle of grace: the life of Jesus expressed through the frailty of human vessels. This inward revelation becomes an outward witness. Before Paul ever preached Christ among the Gentiles, Christ had to be formed within him (Galatians 4:19).
When Christ is revealed in us, forgiveness becomes instinctive, not forced. Love becomes our default, not our effort. We no longer live from wounded pride, but from crucified self. The offenses that once consumed us lose their power because something greater now occupies the heart.
This is why Paul did not immediately consult human counsel. The work God was doing in him was deeply personal and spiritual before it ever became public and ministerial. God was shaping a man who would not merely talk about Jesus, but embody Him.
The world does not only need to hear of Christ; it needs to see Him revealed in His people.
Prayer: My Father, I thank you for this word. I thank you for your grace and mercy through which you reveal your son in me. Let His love be deeper than my wounds, His patience stronger than my reactions, and His humility greater than my pride. Christ is formed within me until my life becomes a clear expression of who He is. May others not only hear of you through my words but encounter you through my life, in Jesus name. Amen.
