THE GOVERNING WISDOM

“None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him—” 1 Corinthians 2:8-9 NIV

When the religious leaders and people were yelling that Christ be crucified, they could not have imagined once that they were taking part in God’s ultimate plan.

Instead, they thought they were weeding out this crowd stirrer; one who had done countless miracles, challenged their beliefs, brought the dead to life, and yet could not bring Himself down from a cross. What they could not fathom was that He was not powerless; He was purposeful.

Their wisdom was political. God’s wisdom was redemptive. Their verdict was death but God’s decree was salvation. The cross was not a mistake in history, but the center of it. What looked like defeat was divine design. What appeared to be weakness was sovereign strength. The rulers judged by sight; but God governed by eternal counsel.

Even now, much of what God is doing escapes our understanding. We interpret delay as denial, suffering as abandonment, silence as absence. Yet the same wisdom that governed Calvary governs our lives. If they had understood, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. And if we fully understood, we would not fear the process He ordains.

God’s wisdom is higher than human strategy. His purposes are deeper than immediate perception. And what He has prepared for those who love Him is beyond imagination, not because it is vague, but because it is glorious.

Trust the wisdom that rules beyond what you see.

Prayer: My Father, I thank you for this wisdom. I do not concern myself with matters too great such as measuring your plans by my limited understanding. Your spirit teaches me to trust your governing wisdom, especially when I cannot trace your hand. I am anchored in the certainty that you are working all things according to your perfect and glorious design. In Jesus’ name, amen.
