FORGIVEN PEOPLE FORGIVE

“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
Colossians 3:13 NIV

Forgiveness is one of the clearest evidences that Christ is truly transforming a heart. The world teaches us to hold onto offenses, protect our pride, and make people earn reconciliation. But the Gospel teaches us something to forgive because we ourselves have been forgiven.

Paul does not say, “Forgive when they deserve it.” He says, “Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” Christ forgave us while we were still sinners, while our debt against Him was immeasurable. The cross is proof that mercy was never based on our worthiness, but on His love.

Bearing with one another also means recognizing that people are imperfect. Every relationship will eventually require grace. Without forgiveness, bitterness hardens the heart and robs us of peace. But when we release others into God’s hands, we make room for healing, freedom, and the character of Christ to grow within us.

Sometimes forgiveness is not a feeling that comes instantly, but a daily surrender before God. Yet every step toward forgiveness reflects the heart of the One who forgave us first.

Prayer: Father, I thank you for teaching me to forgive the way you have forgiven me. Remove bitterness, pride, and resentment from my heart. Give me grace to bear with others in love and to reflect the mercy you have shown me through Christ. Let my life display the freedom and peace that come from walking in forgiveness. In Jesus’ name, amen.
