EXPERIMENTAL KNOWLEDGE OF GOD: DEEPENED THROUGH LOVE & OBEDIENCE
“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.” Deuteronomy 7:9 NIV
Yesterday we learnt that the more we know God relationally the more we know his character and do not judge him foolishly.
Our theme scripture also shows that this knowledge is relational. It is given “to those who love Him and keep His commandments.” Love and obedience deepen our understanding of God.
As we follow Him in trust, we begin to experience His covenant love in ways that cannot be learned from study alone. This is what many Puritan writers described as experimental knowledge of God—truth that has been tested in the life of the believer.
It is the knowledge that grows when prayer is answered, when trials reveal God’s sustaining grace, and when His Word proves faithful in the realities of daily life. The more we walk with God, the more persuaded we become that He truly is who He says He is.
And that persuasion becomes the quiet foundation of faith. Praise God!
Prayer: My Father, I thank you for this word. I thank you for your faithfulness and unchanging nature. I am persuaded that you who gave your only son, will also alongside Him, give us everything else. I yield to your wisdom that my path may be made straight, my heart pure and my faith pleasing to you, in Jesus name. Amen!
