CAREFULLY OBSERVING OUR WAYS
“Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.” Haggai 1:5-6 NIV
It takes great maturity and humility to examine oneself and see where we could be missing it.
We must be able to sincerely come to the Lord and to sound counsel to examine places in our walk that may have loopholes.
It is the reality described in our theme scripture, these people were stuck in every way possible because nothing was yielding, working or producing.
Their error was in failing to acknowledge that every good and perfect gift comes from God (James 1:17) and instead focused all their efforts on chasing after the gifts and the fulfillment they bring while neglecting God, the very source.
May this never be said of you child of God, and may you be teachable enough to receive both counsel and prompts of the spirit when change is needed.
Prayer: Father I thank you for this wisdom. i have trained my mind to be bendable to your will. I am open and able to discern the counsel which you provide through your people, and your word. I refuse to pursue anything more than I seek to know and love you, in Jesus name. Amen!
