COMPELLED BY LOVE
“For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.” II Corinthians 5:14-15 NKJV
The Christian life is not sustained by duty alone, but by love, specifically, the love of Christ. Paul reminds us that this love compels us. It presses upon the heart, leaving no room for indifference. When we truly grasp that Christ died in our place, something in us must change.
If One died for all, then all died. Our old life, self-governed, self-protective, self-centered, was brought to an end at the cross. And because Christ rose again, we are raised into a new way of living. We no longer live for ourselves, but for Him. Child of God, this is not a loss but complete freedom. To live for Christ is to live aligned with the very purpose for which we were redeemed.
His love does not coerce us; it captures us. And once captured, our lives are reoriented, not out of obligation but sincere gratitude.
Prayer : Lord Jesus, thank you for loving us so fully that you gave Your life in our place. Thank you for freeing us from living for ourselves and inviting us into a life lived for you. May your love continually compel our hearts, shape our desires, and guide our steps. We offer our lives back to You with thanksgiving and praise, to the glory of your name. Amen.
