DIVINE ASSIGNMENTS
“Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.”
Matthew 21:43 NIV
In Romans 11:29, Paul reminds us that the gifts and calling of God are irrevocable—because God lacks nothing. He never strips one to enrich another. But while gifts remain, assignments can be revoked.
The late Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke once shared that God told him he was the third man called to the assignment he eventually accepted. Two others had declined. That moment revealed the humility of God, in that He invites us, but never forces us, to partner in His purposes. God’s will shall always prevail, but His work is entrusted to those willing to obey. By mercy, He offers us opportunities to co-labor with Him. If we say no, His mission continues, and is entrusted to hearts made available.
In our theme verse, Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for misusing their office, lusting after status and prestige instead of bearing fruit. Because of their pride, the kingdom would be given to those who, though ordinary in the eyes of man, would believe and yield themselves to God’s enabling grace. From this we learn that God’s assignments are not guaranteed by position, but by faith, humility, and obedience.
The question is not only about what are you gifted to do, but if you are willing to do it?
Prayer: My Father, I thank You for the privilege of being called to serve. By your grace I will not grow proud or passive in the gifts You’ve given, but remain willing and ready for every assignment. Keep my heart tender to Your call, and help me to bear the fruit that honors Your Kingdom. May I never take lightly the invitation to labor with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
