OF BEING SPIRITUALLY HEALTHY
“Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren to go to you ahead of time, and prepare your generous gift beforehand, which you had previously promised, that it may be ready as a matter of generosity and not as a grudging obligation.”
II Corinthians 9:5 NKJV
When the world speaks of wealth, it often points to assets, possessions, and resources that carry measurable value. Such things may open doors and provide privileges, but they remain limited, temporary, and uncertain.
As children of God, however, we are called to recognize a far greater kind of wealth, one not bound to bank accounts or property deeds, but rooted in the wisdom and grace we have received through Christ’s finished work. This spiritual wealth transforms how we live and how we give.
Paul reminds the Corinthians that true generosity flows not from compulsion, but from the abundance of what God has already deposited within us. Because the Spirit has poured His life into us, we can: Give generously, without clinging to what we have. Forgive quickly, because we have been forgiven much. Help joyfully, knowing we serve Christ by serving others. Endure faithfully, trusting that our reward is with the Lord.
Our wealth in Christ is not measured by what we keep, but by how freely we pour out what He has given. To live spiritually wealthy, then, is to let generosity spring naturally, not from pressure, but from the overflow of a heart secured in Him.
Prayer: My Lord, I thank You for the immeasurable riches of grace You have given me in Christ. Teach me to live as one who is truly wealthy, not by the standards of this world, but by the abundance of Your Spirit. May my giving, forgiving, and serving be marked by joy and not obligation, so that others may see Your generosity reflected through me. Amen.
