OF GOOD DEEDS THAT SPRING FROM FAITH
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9 NIV
It can be difficult, especially in the times we are living in to want to do good because of the amount of evil that is in our midst.
Yet there is nothing new under the sun, what we are experiencing today, has been and will be — thus our mandate to remain as consistent as our Lord remains. A wise man once put it this way: though eating may increase a disease, a sick man still will eat so that nature may gain strength against the disease. We must also keep at it, do good in all aspects as the spirit empowers us, even though sin cleaves us to us — that Christ’s nature in us may gain strength against sin.
It is in this kind of knowledge, of which you too are a partaker, that Paul’s charge in our theme scripture finds its foundation. You do not grow weary firstly because it is Christ in you doing the work, and secondly because you are dead enough to sin for it to have nothing in you ( John 14:30). Praise God!
Prayer: My Father, I thank you for this truth. The prince of this world has no claim on me for I have died to my self for you to live your life through me. I yield to your spirit at work in me to do every good work you have purposed for me to accomplish on this side of glory, in Jesus mighty name. Amen!
