OF THE CALLING

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!””
Isaiah 6:8 NIV

Hearing the Lord’s call is not about your ears but the spiritual condition and attitude of your heart.

God created us in unique and different ways, and each one of us is burdened differently in a way that fulfills a given purpose. In our theme scripture, God didn’t call Isaiah, the passage says Isaiah volunteered after hearing a conversation.

The invitation of the Lord that follows is to all those that have a living relationship with Jesus, whose hearts have been transformed and whose affections are heavenward. In every way possible, God does not single out anyone, He does not infringe on our free will. He calls us, and it is our personal choice to respond to His loving invitation (Matthew 4:19).

Child of God, yielding to the spirit of God is what allows us to hear Him, and ultimately respond. This is an open invitation, but only attentive hearts hear and respond. May it be said of you that you were such one.

Prayer: My Father, I thank you for this word. I thank you for the privilege of having your indwelling spirit lead, guide, teach and empower me. I yield my heart to you, that you may reveal any grievous ways in it and strengthen what of Christ is in it, to the glory of your name. Amen!
