”And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people.” Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”  II Corinthians 6:16-17 NKJV

Yesterday we learnt our responsibility as salt and as light to the world. Today I wish to open your eyes to the importance of first understanding your mandate and executing it radically and with excellence.

I once heard a testimony of a former warlock turned Christian, and he shared a particular ritual they performed to counter the promise in Proverbs 26:2.He sat under open air, dry fasting and spelling curses in case their targeted believer may error in speech or action and cause the curse to land (read that scripture for context).

From this testimony, I was baffled by the commitment of the kingdom of darkness to ensnare the children of God, versus the laxness that is among us as believers in clinging to our God, being acquainted with spiritual instructions and realities and in right standing to execute them. In our theme scripture, Paul brings out the primary responsibility for us to even be as spiritually apt as we should be, its to be separate and not mingle with things unclean.

Many believers are succumbing to the lie that they have to look a little like the world to evangelize to it but that is insulting to the power of the Word which is sharper than a double edged sword, able to penetrate and divide soul and spirit, joints and marrow and judge the thoughts and attitudes of the heart (Hebrews 4:12).

Nothing in the Word of God tells us that we have to compromise to win men over to Christ. The instruction is to lift the name of Christ high, and HE WILL DRAW MEN TO HIMSELF (John 12:32).Selah.

Prayer: Father, I thank you for this Word. I exercise myself to be taught of your Holy Spirit through all scriptures, lest I misinterpret any perish by the same sword sent to save me. Teach me how to be humbled in spirit, that I may receive your instruction and delight myself in living by it, as I bear witness to those outside your covenant, in Jesus name. Amen!
