SEEKING LOVE (II)
“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 NKJV
One of the most loving things a believer can do for his brothers and sisters, whether in Christ or not, is give them an opportunity to bear the burden of truth on their hearts.
Love does not flatter or cover up what is destructive; it carries the weight of truth into another person’s heart, trusting the Spirit of God to do the work only He can do.
Our theme scripture tells us that God’s Word is living and powerful. It cuts where no human hand can reach, dividing soul and spirit, exposing intentions, and revealing the hidden thoughts of the heart. That is why every minister is called to preach a Word that pierces, every worshipper to lift a song that convicts, every teacher to declare truth that discerns. Love is not found in softening God’s Word to spare feelings but in faithfully allowing its edge to perform the surgery that heals.
This piercing, however, is never for condemnation. It is not about shaming or guilt-tripping but about lovingly leading people into a place of utter dependence on God. When His Word cuts, it is not to destroy but to heal, reminding us that apart from His help, nothing of eternal value can be accomplished.
The true measure of seeking love is not whether people leave feeling comfortable, but whether they leave knowing they cannot stand without Him. And in that realization lies the sweetest invitation to grace.
Prayer: My Father, I thank you for this truth. I welcome your Word daily to cut through the noise in the world. By your grace, you teach me to love others not by sparing them from truth but by pointing them to the only One who can heal their deepest wounds. May I be faithful to carry Your Word with love, that many may find their dependence in You — in Jesus name. Amen.
