THE CONFIDENCE OF THE SAINTS
“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 1:6 NIV
One thing that is absolutely certain about God, among many — is that He always finishes what He starts.
Human free will may cause delays or create hindrances, because in His mercy and sovereignty He chooses to partner with us as His children. But do not be mistaken: nothing about our frailty can stop the completion of His purposes.
Throughout Scripture we see this clearly. Moses began his mission and along the way gave in to the flesh. The patriarchs, like Abraham, attempted to manufacture in the flesh what was promised in the Spirit. Yet even so, none of this halted God’s original plan. Instead, God intervened, reassigned, showed mercy, and extended multiple chances. Our responsibility is to choose His way.
Child of God, as with our theme scripture, you too share the same confidence Paul expresses. If God has begun a good work in you, lean your entire personality on His faithfulness to complete what He starts. When you fall, fall forward. When you stumble, land at His feet. When you are unsure, inquire in His presence. When you err, repent and get back on course.
It has never been heard or seen, that our Lord forsook those who have trusted in Him with all their heart and strength. Praise God!
Prayer: My Father, I thank you for this truth. I am confident that you will bring to completion the work that you have started in me. I lean my person on the faithfulness of my Lord, knowing that faith does not put to shame. I am a testimony, a written epistle known and read by all name, to the glory of Jesus. Amen!
