THE COUNSEL OF THE LORD
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” Psalms 32:8 NIV
God created us to live lives that are full, meaningful, and glorifying to Him, openly displaying His praise. He never intended for us to navigate life by our own wisdom alone. From the beginning, the Lord positioned Himself as our Teacher, Guide, and Counselor.
Through this, we realize that the humility of our God is unmatched. Though He is all knowing and all powerful, He delights in working through his children. Whether through prophecy, words of wisdom, discernment, miracles, or quiet inner direction, the Lord takes pleasure in revealing His counsel to those who seek Him. His guidance is never detached or cold, instead, comes with His loving eye fixed upon us.
Child of God, the counsel of the Lord is not merely information, but relationship. He leads us not just toward correct decisions, but toward deeper trust, obedience, and dependence on Him. When we submit our plans to His instruction, we find ourselves walking in clarity, peace, and purpose.
The opposite is also true. The presence of endless chaos and lack of peace in your inner man may be a signal that your ear is shut to His voice.
Prayer: My Father, I thank you for being my faithful Counselor. Teach me the way I should go and help me to trust your guidance above my own understanding. Keep my heart humble and attentive to your voice. I choose to walk under your loving eye, confident that your counsel will lead me in truth and life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
