THE COVENANTS OF THE RIGHTEOUS

“‘This is what I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt. And my Spirit remains among you. Do not fear.’” Haggai 2:5 NIV

We are called righteous not because of what we produce through effort or good works, but because of what the Lord deposits within us.

With that in mind, every child of God should walk in covenant with Him. Some covenants are shared by all who believe, but others are deeply personal, shaped by how we engage with His Word and the unique calling upon our lives. In our theme scripture, God gives a prophecy of hope to a defiled people, promising them a blessed end. Only He can speak such encouragement into brokenness, for His thoughts and ways are far beyond ours (Isaiah 55:8).

So it is with you, child of God. His grace is not a license for sin, but it does cover your failures and shortcomings as He works to heal them. Never allow the enemy to weigh you down with shame or guilt. And if you must bleed, bleed in the hands of the Lord—for His hands are safe.

Be confident in the prayers of your great High Priest, who ever lives to intercede for you (Hebrews 4:14).

Prayer: My Father, I thank You for the covenants that anchor my life in Your mercy and truth. Teach me to rest in the intercession of Christ, and to walk confidently in the grace that covers my weakness. Keep me from the grip of shame and remind me daily that Your Spirit remains with me in Jesus’ name. Amen.
