THE INCOMPARABLE PRIVILEGE OF THE NEW DISPENSATION
“Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who prophesied about the grace that would come to you, searched and carefully investigated. They inquired into what time or what circumstances the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating when he testified in advance to the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you. These things have now been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven — angels long to catch a glimpse of these things.” 1 Peter 1:10-12 CSB
Abraham, Moses, Samuel, David, Elijah, and countless other forefathers lived by promises they only glimpsed prophetically.
They held fast to these visions and divine revelations with such deep conviction that they devoted their lives to serving a reality they had not yet seen. Peter tells us they were not serving themselves, but us. The glory of the New Covenant believer is that, unlike them, we possess not only their prophetic witness but also the fulfillment of those promises—confirmed by our own experience and the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit within us.
This is why the New Testament echoes the call to rejoice over 246 times. The work of Christ is not a distant hope but a present and ongoing reality.
In Him, we always have reason to rejoice and to remain steadfast in hope.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for this truth. Truly, the joy of the Lord is my strength. I put my hope in You, not in circumstances that shift like shadows. I am fully persuaded that You will finish what You began in us, through Christ our Lord—to the glory of Your name. Amen.
