THE REMEMBRANCE OF THE LORD
“That night the king could not sleep; so he ordered the book of the chronicles, the record of his reign, to be brought in and read to him.” Esther 6:1 NIV
When Scripture calls us to outdo one another in showing honor (Romans 12:10), it is not a burdensome duty meant to drain us—it’s a divine opportunity. Every good deed that springs from faith is lovingly recorded by heaven. Mordecai’s act of loyalty—reporting an assassination plot— was not rewarded right away. But it was remembered. Not in the moment he might have expected, but in the moment that mattered most. Had he been rewarded immediately, perhaps the king would not have returned to the chronicles at the pivotal time. God orchestrated it all perfectly.
Beloved, this is not to suggest that God has only one way to bring justice or blessing to your life. But don’t allow yourself to become discouraged when your acts of kindness go unnoticed, or when men overlook the sacrifices you’ve made in love. If people forget, the Lord does not. And in due time, He will reward you—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. Take heart, child of God. The Master of the universe is not unjust to forget your work. He alone makes all things right, in truth, justice, and mercy. Hallelujah!
Prayer: Father, thank You for this assuring truth. Strengthen me not to grow weary in doing good, for my reward is with You. When no one is watching, remind me that You are always present—my true audience and my faithful rewarder. You alone are enough, and in You I place my trust. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
