THE SAINTS IN WHOM GOD DELIGHTS

“As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.” Psalm 16:3 ESV

David has just declared that the Lord is his portion, his refuge, his highest good. In there, his affection widens to express his delight in the saints because love for God produces love for His people.

The world evaluates excellence by influence, appearance, intellect, or achievement. But heaven defines excellence by consecration, and consequently what God claims, God beautifies. A people marked by God, even in weakness, are precious in His sight, and when our hearts are rightly aligned with Him, we too begin to treasure what and whom He treasures.

Love for God reshapes our affections. If He is our portion, His people become our delight. If He is our inheritance, His family becomes our joy. The measure of our vertical devotion is often revealed in our horizontal love.

Child of God, Christ Himself fulfills this delight, The Holy One does not despise His redeemed ones. He gathers them, sanctifies them, and rejoices over them. When grace truly humbles us, we learn to cherish one another the same way.

Hallelujah!

Prayer: My Father, I thank you for this truth. I thank you for the love which you instill in me. I thank you for loving me first, and giving your only son to die for me as the ultimate seal of love and adoption. Teach my heart to extend this love to others, as an act of worship to you, in Jesus name. Amen!
