THE UNHURRIED PACE OF HIS LIFE

“The wrapping  that had been on his head was not lying with the linen cloths  but was folded up in a separate place by itself.” John 20:7 CSB

When Peter stepped into the empty tomb, he did not find chaos but order.

The burial wrappings lay undisturbed, and the head cloth was neatly folded apart. This indicated there had been no robbery, no hurried escape or haste. Every detail spoke of intention. Christ had risen not by accident, nor by human interference, but by His own sovereign power. Unlike Lazarus, who stumbled forth still bound in grave clothes, Jesus left His wrappings behind forever.

Death’s garments no longer belonged to Him. The folded cloth was a quiet yet thunderous declaration: Death is defeated. I will not return to this place again. Child of God, for you, the folded cloth is more than a detail in the narrative, it is a sign of divine finality. Christ did not merely escape death; He conquered it, never to wear its clothes again. And those who trust in Him are promised the same: to lay aside the garments of corruption and be clothed in eternal life. Hallelujah!

Prayer: My Father, I thank You for the victory of Christ’s resurrection. Thank You that even in the smallest details of the empty tomb, we see the power and certainty of Your triumph over death. Help me to live today in the assurance that I too will share in that victory, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
