THE WAGES OF SIN

”But the wicked are like the troubled sea, When it cannot rest, Whose waters cast up mire and dirt. “There is no peace,” Says my God, “for the wicked.”“
Isaiah 57:20-21 NKJV

If any of you has experienced life in the world before receiving Christ as Lord and savior, you might be able to tell the radical difference of the peace you experience on a daily basis compared to the tumult you might have been well acquainted with in the past.

In the book of Romans 6:23, Paul writes: ‘the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord’. Whatever sinful thing one persists into has a lifetime damage it causes to their souls. Receiving Christ as Lord and savior however progressively transforms your affections and pacifies your conscience.

In our theme scripture, Isaiah likens those that refuse Christ as a sea that continually churns up mire and dirt. It takes no effort for the sea to produce mud whether it touches the shore or simply sits on its bed of dirt. Likewise, it does not take man a lot of effort to like and be engaged into sin unapologetically if they carry no fear of God in them.

And as a consequence of sin, there is always an inward sense of fear, guilt, shame, uneasiness that visits these ones often. For the drunkard, sobriety is a threat because the thoughts spill over uncontrollably, for the promiscuous anxiety is unavoidable because they constantly worry about a possible need to receive an unwanted conception or an irreversible diagnosis. For the liar and slanderer the fear to be exposed or to have borne false witness rises every so often.

Indeed as the prophet says, there will be no rest for the wicked! It is for those that live under the covering of the most high for whom peace is created as a fruit of the lips and a state of the heart (verse 18).

I invite you then child of God, if you feel that your heart longs for this peace, this Savior has come for you mostly. If you veered off the path of truth and need to re-invite His presence, you too are most welcomed! If you believe with your heart and confess with your mouth that Christ is Lord and that He rose from the dead, you will be saved.

[ Salvation prayer: Lord Jesus, I thank you because you died for my sins and you were raised for my glory. Today, I receive you as my Lord and Savior. I am born again. Amen.”]
