TO BE GIVEN OVER

“Therefore, God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.” Romans 1:24 NIV

God’s restraining power is a protective force in our lives, guarding us from dangers we cannot even see in this fallen world.

This power is evident in the natural order—how the sun stays in place, the moon rises on time, and the seas are contained by the shore. In our theme scripture, Paul speaks of this power as something that can be removed when a person continually rebels against God’s will. For example, someone may begin drinking casually, but over time, they’re given over to alcoholism. Or a person starts with casual sex, only to be consumed by promiscuity. Little by little, unchecked behaviors can spiral out of control.

The truth is excess in anything is harmful. But when we yield to God’s restraint, His power strengthens within us. The key to a life of divine excellence is trusting and obeying God, keeping our desires in moderation, and aligning our actions with His will.

I pray that this is your story—one of trusting God and walking in His perfect balance. Hallelujah!

Prayer: Father, I thank you for this truth. My life reflects a deep trust in You as I walk in Your perfect balance and divine restraint. I experience your protective power, keeping my desires in moderation and my actions aligned with Your will. As I yield to You, may your strength grow within me, leading me to a life of excellence that honors You, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
