TO BE RECOGNIZED BY HEAVEN
“In the same way, Christ did not take on himself the glory of becoming a high priest. But God said to him, “You are my Son; today I have become your Father.”” Hebrews 5:5 NIV
One of the most profound things about Christ’s journey is that He did not appoint Himself. He did not grasp for recognition, position, or honor. He waited for the Father to name Him.
Before Jesus performed miracles, before He preached sermons, before He went to the cross, He was already affirmed by heaven as God’s son. His identity was declared before His ministry began.
This is deeply freeing for us because many spend so much of life trying to prove ourselves to people, to earn titles, to justify our worth through performance. Yet Christ shows us a different way: true calling is received, not seized. True recognition comes from God, and not striving.
Heaven’s acknowledgment mattered more than earth’s applause. And because we are in Christ, this becomes true for us too. Our worth is not established by what we do, but by whose we are. God names us before we achieve anything. He calls us His children before we ever feel qualified.
To be recognized by heaven is to rest in an identity that does not fluctuate with success or failure. It is to live from approval, not for approval. Selah!
Prayer: My Father, I thank you for this truth. I rest in the identity you have already bestowed on me as a son. Keep me from striving for recognition as your spirit enables me to live from the assurance that I am yours. I am confident in the seal of approval that Christ my Lord afforded me on the cross, for eternity. Amen.
