YIELDING OUR WILL TO GOD

“Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish.””
John 21:18 NKJV

The complete circle of salvation is found in the yielding of man’s will to God. Many accept Christ as Savior, yet never truly experience Him as Lord because they have not surrendered the right to themselves into His hands.

In our theme scripture, Jesus paints a picture using the frailty that comes with old age—when one must depend on others, relinquishing the freedom of personal decision-making. This image reflects the life of a believer who is led by the Holy Spirit, having learned to trust God’s might, wisdom, and sovereignty above their own understanding.

Child of God, spiritual maturity is marked not by self-reliance but by surrender. The more you grow in revelational knowledge, the less confidence you place in the flesh to accomplish anything apart from Him. Yes, we may possess gifts, skills, and wisdom, but it is God alone who causes us both to will and to do according to His good pleasure.

Yield, therefore, to His Spirit—for in yielding, you do not lose yourself; you find the truest life that is hidden with Christ in God.

Prayer: My Father, I thank You for teaching me that true strength is found in surrender. Help me to yield my will fully to Yours, trusting Your leading in every season of life. I thank You that Your Spirit guide my steps, shape my desires, and perfect Your will in me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
