AIMING TO PLEASE GOD BEFORE MEN

“He waited seven days, the time set by Samuel; but Samuel did not come to Gilgal, and Saul’s men began to scatter. So he said, “Bring me the burnt offering and the fellowship offerings.” And Saul offered up the burnt offering.” 1 Samuel 13:8-9 NIV

Impatience and fear can cause even the most believing human to act outside of God’s direction.

Our theme Scripture reveals a deeper heart issue in Saul. Not only was he more apprehensive of the disdain of men than that of God, but he also attempted to justify his disobedience when confronted by the prophet.

This is a valid lesson that is just as important today as it was centuries ago, child of God. Never let the fear of men drive you outside of God’s parameters and instruction.

You may achieve certain expected results, but the blessing of God is that which carries no shame or sorrow with it. Let it be said of you that you placed obedience above the demands and pressures of society and circumstances. Praise God.

Prayer: My Father, I thank you for this truth. I thank you for revealing the danger of impatience and the snare of fearing men. Teach my heart to wait on your time, to trust your word, and to obey you even when the pressure is great. May my life aim to please you above all else. In Jesus’ name, amen.
