THE INNER WITNESS (II)
“Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.” Amos 3:7 NIV
While God once revealed His plans through prophets who spoke outwardly to His people, the believer today experiences the guidance of the Holy Spirit from within.
This does not mean that God has ceased to speak. Rather, His primary witness now lives in the hearts of those who belong to Him. Instead of hearing frequent declarations from seers as in ancient times, the child of God often experiences the quiet yet unmistakable witness of the Holy Spirit.
He leads, convicts, teaches, and comforts, gently confirming the will of the Father. Many times His guidance comes as a settled peace when we walk in obedience, or a holy unrest when something is not aligned with the Lord’s will.
This inner witness never competes with Scripture; it always agrees with it. The Spirit who dwells within us is the same Spirit who inspired the Word of God. He illuminates the Scriptures and applies them to our daily lives.
As we grow in prayer, obedience, and meditation on the Word, our hearts become more sensitive to this gentle leading. The Spirit faithfully directs our steps and draws our hearts closer to Christ.
For the God who once spoke through prophets has now chosen to dwell within His people, guiding us from the inside out. Praise God!
Prayer: My Father, I thank you for your Holy Spirit that teaches my heart to recognize your inner witness. I thank you that you guard me from confusion and lead me in the truth of your Word. Let your peace guide my decisions and your presence shape my walk with Christ each day. Amen.
