AIMING TO PLEASE GOD BEFORE MEN (II)

“Hezekiah trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before him or after him. He held fast to the Lord and did not stop following him; he kept the commands the Lord had given Moses. And the Lord was with him; he was successful in whatever he undertook. He rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him.” 2 Kings 18:5-7 NIV

Hezekiah’s story is more than just a story of a king that loved God, but one who understood the covenant made to his forefathers and determined to walk uprightly in it.

Dismantling the poles and idols of his people was an act of cleansing and reverential honor to God, but it was also a pathway to removing every other thing or place that was competing for the people’s confidence outside God.

Three important things stand out from this king’s life: trusting God above everything else, forsaking all other comforts, approvals or controls that make us rely on self, aligning our actions with His promises.

Child of God, the test of trust is rarely in calm seasons. It comes when pressures mount, health falters, finances tighten, relationships strain, or God seems silent. Like Hezekiah, our trust must be practical, not just theological assent, but obedience that springs from dependence.

Trust obeys God’s commands not to earn His favor, but to walk in life with He who already loves us (Romans 8:32). Praise Him!

Prayer: My Father , i thank you for this wisdom. I thank you for Christ my example, who perfectly trusted your plan, even unto death. I am confident and firm in the work of at the cross, the greatest demonstration of divine trustworthiness. I trust You with my fears, my plans, my today, and my tomorrow — In Jesus mighty name. Amen!
