CONCURRING THE MIND

”Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.“ Joshua 1:8 NLT

The word of God is not supposed to be meditated on occasionally. The precept in our theme scripture is ‘day and night’ to mean that during all your wake hours there should be a word by which you are functioning by.

If you are keen to read your Bible, you will realize that almost every expected response in the flesh, that we have towards different circumstances will always differ from what God would rather have us do no matter how much we can justify it.

For example, in 2 Chronicles 20:21, the king hears that an army is marching towards them and in fear goes to seek the Lord for strategy. He was instructed to just stand still when his enemies come and to raise a shout of praise. Just think of how ridiculous that would sound in the ears of a man of war.

The same is when we are asked to give our enemies a drink when they thirst, to forgive those that willfully wrong us and do them good every opportunity we get, to turn the other cheek and to abstain from confrontations even if we have all the right arguments.

Child of God, this kind of stories still exist today, this same God that instructs Jehoshaphat and his men is still the same one you bow to in praise. Joshua assures us that the meditation of your heart based on His Word carries your victory. It is ‘only then’ that you will succeed and prosper in all that you do.

Be a good steward of your mind and only engage thoughts that are aligned to truth. Guard also your heart for from it are the springs of life. Hallelujah!

Prayer: Father I thank you for this truth. I am a lover of your word, and your presence because my life is transformed as I behold you. Thank you that the treasures therein are not hidden to my eyes. Thank you for the grace to not just be a hearer but also a doer of your word. By your mercy, upward and forward is my only trajectory, in Jesus name. Amen!
