ETERNITY IN VIEW
“After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.”” Revelation 4:1 NIV
C.S. Lewis once said:
“If you read history, you will find that the Christians who did the most for the present world were just those who thought most of the next. Aim at heaven and you get earth thrown in; aim at earth and you get neither.”
This idea captures what it means to live for an audience of One. It is possibly the greatest antidote to perfectionism, anxiety, fear, and many of the pressures that weigh heavily on the human soul. So many are exhausted, overwhelmed, and anxious because they have placed more value on the world and its demands than on heaven’s call.
But heaven isn’t a distant destination—it is a present reality. The Spirit of God, who transcends time and space, dwells in you now.
When your heart is set on pleasing God—when your desire is to walk in His ways, to grieve when you grieve His Spirit, and to serve others as though serving Him—you begin to live with eternity in view. Fear and worry lose their grip because self is no longer the center of your story. Where self steps down, God reigns.
Let the mind of Christ be in you—the One who said, “I do nothing except as I see my Father do.”
This is the posture of the eternal-minded. Praise God!
Prayer: Father, I thank You for opening the door of heaven to us through Jesus Christ. Thank You for the privilege of walking with eternity in view. Help me to live for You alone—free from fear, free from striving—anchored in Your presence and moved by Your Spirit. May every part of my life reflect Your glory and Your nearness, now and forever. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
