GOD’S MOST PRECIOUS GIFT

“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!” 2 Corinthians 9:15 NIV

In the human creative liberty that makes us the likeness of God, someone decided to pick a day out of the calendar to celebrate the advent of the greatest human to walk the face of the earth—Immanuel, God with us.

Believer or non-believer, we all agree that the Christmas season, although more symbolic than factual, is a time packed with emotion and self-reflection for most people. I believe this is where divinity and humanity intersect, where the sense of eternity God has placed in the hearts of all people is pressed upon them (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

It is almost as though the soul pauses briefly, to remember that life is more than survival, more than routine, more than what can be bought or wrapped. Amid the lights, the music, and the traditions, there is a quiet ache and also a quiet hope that points beyond ourselves. That longing is not accidental. It is a divine reminder that we were made for something eternal, and that eternity once stepped into time.

Paul calls Christ God’s “indescribable gift” because no human language can fully contain the miracle of the incarnation. God did not merely send an idea, a principle, or a moral example, He gave Himself. In Jesus, heaven touched earth, grace clothed itself in flesh, and love became visible. This gift was not earned, negotiated, or deserved. It was given freely, moved by mercy, wrapped in humility, and delivered through sacrifice.

Child of God, Christmas, at its core, is not about what we give, but about what we have already received. Before we could reach for God, He reached for us. Before we could find our way back, He came near.

And that nearness, God with us, remains His most precious gift.

Prayer: My Father, I thank you for the gift that words cannot fully explain, your Son, given for us. In the midst of seasons filled with noise and distraction, help our hearts to recognize the eternal significance of your grace. Stir gratitude within us, anchor us in hope, and draw us closer to you. May our lives reflect the wonder of having received so great a gift. In Jesus’ name, amen.
