HOLINESS ADORNS HEAVEN
“Your statutes, Lord, stand firm; holiness adorns your house for endless days.” Psalms 93:5 NIV
What makes truth trustworthy is its immutability. Truth does not shift in doctrine, nor does it bend to suit the desires or comforts of man.
The same is true of holiness. God cannot tolerate evil or impurity in His presence. The psalmist affirms this by declaring holiness as the adornment of the Lord’s house.
Adornments—like decorations in a home—reflect the taste and character of the one who dwells there. This varies from person to person, but with God, holiness is essential. It is as necessary to those who commune with Him as furniture is to a dwelling. Wherever God reigns, holiness must reign. It is not something we can accomplish in our own strength or might, but a work that begins and ends with Him.
This is why communion with the Father is so vital.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for this truth. Help me to always rely on Your help as You complete the work You began in me. Let my life be marked by a continual hunger and thirst for truth, that my worship may remain pure. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
