LOVING GOD
“But whoever loves God is known by God.” 1 Corinthians 8:3 NIV
Beyond feeling emotionally stirred by worship or moved by fellowship, to love God is to fully surrender in obedience to Him. It is to recognize Him as worthy of our affection, trust, and devotion. Love for God is not proven by passion alone—but by posture.
God knows those who love Him because He sees the motives of the heart and the predisposition to obey that belongs to those who have centered Him in their affections. We love because He first loved us, and our love is evidence of His sovereign grace at work in us.
This love humbles us, restrains us, and occupies our deepest desires, reminding us that our standing before God is never built on knowledge, accomplishment, or moral superiority. It is anchored in relationship. The world may reward status and intellect, but Christ honors devotion.
Child of God, the more we love Him, the more we are freed from proving ourselves and invited into being fully received by the One who loved us first, loved us best, and loves us still.
Prayer: My Father, I thank You that to love You is to be fully known by You. Keep my heart humble, surrendered, and faithful by Your Spirit at work in me. Let my love for You be more than emotion—continually shaped into obedience, trust, and daily devotion. Guard me from pride and deepen my affection for You, for You have first placed Your love upon me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
