MAKING NO PROVISION FOR SIN

“Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.” Romans 13:14 NIV

Scripture says the heart is deceitful and none can trust it, hence whenever the Lord desires for us to draw close he asks for our hearts (Proverbs 23:26).

The reason for this is that the heart is the primary seat of holiness, and as pastor John Piper once put it, the ear is a good path way for corruption as is the eye. It is impossible to guard your heart when your eyes and ears are constantly exposed to information that create a base for sin to operate.

The effect of the constant meditation on scripture (Joshua 1:8) and the confession thereof (Proverbs 18:21) is the same effect produced by constantly listening to certain lyrics, watching certain videos or reading certain books.

Child of God, above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it (Proverbs 4:23 ) and you do so by putting on (clothing yourself with) the Lord Jesus Christ and not thinking of ways to gratify the desires of your flesh. Hallelujah!

Prayer: Father I thank you for this wisdom. I guard my heart jealously, because I know in it is where you dwell and in it is where sin seeks to dwell. I join David in his humble prayer, search my heart and see if there is anything grievous in it. I yield it to you continuously for I know the ways of man are not in Himself. I hide in Christ for not sin, or death bears power in his presence. I pray and believe this in Jesus name, Amen!
