NO CONDEMNATION

“This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence: If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.” 1 John 3:19-20 NIV

One of the greatest insults to the sacrifice of Jesus is when a believer continues to condemn themselves for sins God has already forgiven.

The awareness of our sin should do two things: lead us to repentance and deepen our appreciation for the gift of salvation, as we recognize the privilege it is. In our theme scripture, John acknowledges that some may feel their sin is too great to be forgiven by faith alone.

But he reminds us that even when our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our hearts. Child of God, receive and embrace the finished work of Christ with understanding and gratitude.

Only when this truth is firmly anchored in your heart can you enter His rest. Praise God!

Prayer: Father, I thank you for the precious gift that is salvation. I have entered your rest because I am conscious of the privilege it is, to be seated with Christ in the heavenly places. May the evidence of your peace that surpasses understanding remain evident in my life, in Jesus mighty name. Amen!
