ON SPIRITUAL FATHERHOOD (VI)

“I want you to pattern your lives after me, just as I pattern mine after Christ.” 1 Corinthians 11:1 TPT

As we reflect on fatherhood, it’s essential to remember the ultimate goal: to resemble God more, fully equipped for godliness, with love leading the way.

While there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach, and God ministers to each person uniquely, Paul set an example by following Christ in his actions. His role was pivotal in establishing the foundation for the Church, making him a worthy model to follow.

However, many ministers have misinterpreted this by thinking they only need to listen to God, disregarding counsel from others. This has led to situations where fathers wound their sons, complicating their ability to reconcile with truth. If you cannot receive counsel, you are not in a position to give it.

Even Jesus followed a pattern, as He said in John 5:19, “I do as I see my Father do.” Don’t be deceived into thinking you can bypass this principle. Two are always better than one, and both will reap the reward for their labor.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the wisdom You’ve given. Lead the hearts of those who are sincere and seeking to the covering that is right for them. Grant them grace to listen, submit, and trust, and to those who lead, give compassion and patience, knowing they serve You. As You have promised, turn the hearts of fathers to sons and sons to fathers, so that our faith remains steadfast in times of trial. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
