OUR HELPER (II)

”Do not stifle the Holy Spirit.“
1 Thessalonians 5:19 NLT

A stifle joint is usually a point in the anatomy of mammals such as dogs, sheep or horses. It is equivalent to a human knee, very sensitive and composes the largest synovial joint of the mammal’s body.

The word stifling however means to suffocate or to suppress that sensitive joint. In our theme scripture, Paul warns against suppressing the Holy Spirit because by nature, the spirit of the Lord is sensitive, gentle yet very firm, just like a knee.

He uses very descriptive language such as stifle because such joints are irreplaceable and can cause a lifetime of disability should they malfunction. So is it true of the Holy Spirit, when you quench His voice, you suppress the guiding compass for the life you are supposed to live as one in the world but not of it (John 17:16).

Child of God, whether it is prophecy, dreams, revelation or visions you have received, test it all through scripture and by the spirit. When you make decisions, choose a spouse, parent, lead a business or serve your earthly masters, let the Spirit of the Lord guide you, convict you, instruct you and don’t resist it.

As written in Romans 2:14, every human being knows the difference between right and wrong, even those who don’t believe in God (gentiles) instinctively prove they do by obeying these moral precepts engraved on our hearts but our creator.

We who have been bought by a very great price, the blood of Jesus Christ, are without excuse for His very Spirit is at work in us and we are responsible for responding. Hallelujah!

Prayer: Father I thank you for this truth. It is such a great privilege to be led by your Holy Spirit, for He knows all things. I don’t strike as one who is blind, I pray with clarity, I declare with precision, I execute with diligence, all because of your indwelling spirit. Far be it from me to exalt my ways or desires above the one who knows and sees all, in Jesus name. Amen!

CI.
