POWER UNDER CONTROL

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” Matthew 5:14 NIV

The Sermon on the Mount is perhaps the most well known message our Lord Jesus gave while walking the earth.

Jesus words in this sermons are peculiar in nature because it appeals to our conscience and will. If we approach it without the humility of a child, firstly acknowledging our deep need for Him, they will fall on hardened soil, bearing no fruit.

That is why Jesus often emphasized the necessity of childlikeness, because His wisdom sounds foolish to a mind puffed up by self-reliance and pride. However, this is not a call to abandon thought, but to discipline it to trust God enough to let go of the demand for every answer, especially where He has chosen to remain silent for our good.

Child of God, the greatest form of spiritual maturity is knowing that you carry power and yet not wield it for self-gain. It is knowing you could speak, defend, or prove, but choosing instead to submit to the higher way of Christ. That is the mystery of submission, and success as it relates to Kingdom protocol.

Selah!

Prayer: My Father , I thank You for calling me to be light in a dark world. Teach me the strength of restraint, the beauty of meekness, and the power of quiet obedience. Help me to follow Your voice above the noise of pride or the temptation to prove myself. May my life reflect the brightness of one who belongs to You, not by striving, but by willful surrender. In Jesus name, Amen.
