RELYING ON GOD
“What sorrow awaits those who look to Egypt for help, trusting their horses, chariots, and charioteers and depending on the strength of human armies instead of looking to the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.”
In the book of Joshua 5&6 we read stories of mighty triumphs in battle because Joshua would not move before God gave him a particular instruction and reassurance that He had already handed over His enemies into His hands. We see the same pattern with king David, who never went into battle without inquiring from the Lord if the nations he was going against had been won over spiritually prior to undertaking the task as an army.
Such men had great armies under their command, they were skilled in battle and had all that you would need to fight against an enemy, but even so, they dared not make any moves before the Lord had fought for them. So should be our consciousness as believers. It matters very little how much funds have in your savings for rainy days, how secure you are in what you possess or who you know, how skilled or crafty you are, if you do not have the hand of God over you, you labor in vain.
Men like Joshua, or David rarely went down in battle not because their adversaries were unskilled in any way, but because they carried a conscience that all things were spiritual and the God of the spirits and of all flesh was the only one able to subdue and triumph over any battle while they simply walked into the manifestation with faith and confidence that they cannot fail.
It is good to work and save for the bad days, but put not your trust in what man is able to achieve. It is good to be a great spouse, or parent, neighbor or sibling, but there is no goodness in flesh and blood — only a God who causes us to will and do according to His good pleasure.
Let it be said of you that you are a man/ woman greatly helped by God.
Prayer: Father I thank you for this wisdom. Scripture says promotion neither comes from east nor west, but from the Lord of heaven armies. I work at all my tasks diligently, I acquire skill and wisdom as availed, but I know who gets the glory and who to inquire from regardless of the abilities acquired. As you always were for our fathers, you remain the strength of my heart and the portion of my inheritance from age to age, in Jesus mighty name.
