STAYING IN HIS PRESENCE
“Do not be hasty to go from his presence. Do not take your stand for an evil thing, for he does whatever pleases him.””
Ecclesiastes 8:3 NKJV
There is a quiet temptation in all of us to move quickly from the presence of God.
In moments of pressure, discomfort, or delay, we often rush from the stillness of communion into the noise of self-reliance or carnal strategy. But haste is often the seedbed of error. Our theme scripture calls us to reverence, to patience, and to purity. To not be hasty from His presence means to stay—still, surrendered, silent (when needed). God’s timing is not bound to our urgency. He does what pleases Him, and His good pleasure is always right, always just, always wise.
To take your stand for an evil thing can happen subtly. It may be the offense we nurse, the shortcut we justify, or the alliance we form outside of God’s counsel. When we abandon God’s presence prematurely, we become vulnerable to aligning ourselves with things that oppose His will. The safeguard against this is worshipful waiting. When we linger in His presence, when we make no move without His leading, we protect ourselves from standing in opposition to the very One who rules all. His will is not only sovereign but satisfying. His rule is not only authoritative but good.
Child of God, resist the urge to rush. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. Let your heart say, “I will not move unless He leads. I will not join myself to anything that does not bear His name.”
He alone does what pleases Him, and blessed is the one who waits for His pleasure to unfold.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for the refuge of Your presence. I wait on You without haste and trust in Your sovereign timing. Guard my heart from aligning with anything evil—whether in thought, action, or alliance. Let my posture always be one of stillness before You, delighting in Your will and surrendered to Your ways. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
