THE GRACE OF OUR LORD

“May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s holy people.” Revelation 22:21 NLT

Many of Paul’s letters start and end with this exhortation and interestingly, the final words to be recorded in scripture in Revelation 22:21 speak of the same. Grace by definition is the merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and kindles them to the exercise of the Christian virtues.

As a man in the human flesh, there is nothing that God demands of us that you can accomplish without this grace. That is why such a salutation and blessing is found in scriptures that follow the ascension of our Lord who then sent us the only help there is for this grace to be executed in us — THE HOLY SPIRIT.

God cannot “exert his holy influence upon your soul” except you have yielded entirely to the channel through which he does it, his spirit in you. The flesh and the spirit are always at enmity and all that you desire to do by the flesh, will always have its end in destruction.

Child of God, if you understand this truth, it will be impossible for you to desire doing anything except with the help of the holy spirit. Hallelujah!

Prayer: May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s holy people, Amen!
